New Harvest Moon Game Releases for 3DS

Natsume and XSeed may have split the series up, but that doesn’t mean that we are lacking in fun creative games from the Harvest Moon series. Recently Natsume threw its latest bid in for the series in the form of Skytree Village; a Minecraft-esque game that incorporates the main elements from the Harvest Moon series such as growing crops, raising animals, and marriage. The game was released at the beginning of November and had both a normal and limited edition with prices starting at $29.99 USD.

The game has 3 special editions. One that comes with an artbook, soundtrack, pins, and a rubber blue feather strap. Two from Natsume themselves that either come with a Giant Bluebird plush or a Giant Bob Cat plush. The description of the Skytree village is as follows:

Times have changed in the land known as the Oasis of the Harvest Goddess. Many people used to live in Skytree Village, and the land was lush and green. However, the power of the Harvest Goddess gradually began to wane, and the land became parched and dry. It’s up to you revive the seven Skytrees in order to give the Harvest Goddess her power back, and, in turn, bring life back to this desolate land!

So, look for Skytree Village at your local retailer today. At a reduced price point it’s great for gamers looking for a cheaper play. On top of that, the long play time offered in Harvest Moon games will keep you enthralled for hours as you work to bring the Harvest Goddesse’s magic back to Skytree Village and build a life for yourself. The game also offers 3 bachelors and bachelorettes to choose from, so go ahead pick your favorite and go with the harvest Moon tradition you know and love.

A Few More Weird Pokedex Entrees

Recently we had a list of five of some of the most stand out Pokedex entries from Pokemon Sun and Moon. Well, we felt that five just wasn’t enough so we grabbed three more to share with you that we felt were some really well-written entries.

#3:Muk

600px-089muk-alola

Muk got a lot of love for its new Alolan form, but the Pokedex entry leads one to believe Muk may need some help to stick around. The Moon Pokedex entry reads:

” After recent environmental improvements, this Pokémon is now hardly seen at all. People speculate that it may go extinct at some point. ”

It’s odd to imagine what a nature reserve built to sustain a Muk population would look like, but hopefully the world of Pokemon gets on that soon!

#2:Crabrawler

250px-739crabrawler

Crabrawler is arguably one of the funnier crab Pokemon designs there are, but according to their Pokedex entries they share a similar fate with Slowpoke. The Moon Pokedex entry reads:

” It punches so much, its pincers often come off from overuse, but they grow back quickly. What little meat they contain is rich and delicious. ”

So basically Crabrawlers run around punching things until their hands fall off, and the hands they leave behind are delicious treats for whoever finds them. Slowpoke tails and Crabrawler claws may make a fantastic soup together.

#1:Sandyghast

250px-769sandygast

The Sandcastle Pokemon was initially met with some criticism from fans for being another silly Ghost concept. However, Sandyghast proves to be a rather horrifying addition to the world of Pokemon. The Moon Pokedex entry reads:

” It takes control of anyone who puts a hand in its mouth. And so it adds to the accumulation of its sand-mound body. ”

So its a Pokemon that uses mind slaves to make it grow and eventually evolve into an even more horrifying monster. Maybe laughing at Sandyghast is a bad idea.

So there are three more great Pokedex entries from Sun and Moon. Are there any you liked that we’ve left out? Let us know in the comments below!

Pokemon Sun and Moon: 5 of The Best New Pokedex Entries

As we all travel through the new region of Alola in Pokemon Sun  and Moon we will surely be discovering a lot of new Pokemon and with them learning about the lore of the Pokemon world. Every generation is accompanied by a Pokedex full of new entries, both expanding on the information about our favorite Pokemon we’ve known for years and adding entries for the new friends were just gaining access to. So we’ve perused some of the new entries and picked 5 that stand out for various reasons and seem to add something interesting to the lore of the Pokemon world.

#5: Slowpoke

079slowpoke

With this new generation, we get a response to the long-standing questions about how Slowpoke feels about people eating its tail. The answer is found in Sun’s Pokedex:

” Its long tail often breaks off. It doesn’t really feel any pain, though, and the tail grows back, so Slowpoke isn’t particularly bothered.”

So the new Pokedex entry confirms it, Slowpoke is totally OK with you eating its tail. Maybe those Team Rocket grunts from Gold and Silver weren’t so evil after all?

#4: Pyukumuku

pyukumuku

Many Pokemon battle in strange ways using various parts of their body. Pyukumuku however, takes the strange to a whole new level. The entry from Sun’s Pokedex reads:

“It lives in shallow seas, such as areas near a beach. It can eject its internal organs, which it uses to engulf its prey or battle enemies.”

So it just sort of shoots it organs out to attack you. This is probably more effective as psychological warfare than anything else.

#3:Alolan Vulpix

600px-037vulpix-alola

Vulpix’s Alolan form switches its type to Ice, and apparently, it’s power transfers well into this form. The entry in Sun’s Pokedex explains further:

” It exhales air colder than -58 degrees Fahrenheit. Elderly people in Alola call this Pokemon by an older name-Keokeo.”

So Alolan Vulpix can potentially freeze things with its breath, and the older locals have a completely different name for it. This opens up some interesting details for lore speculators about Pokemon history.

#2: Toxapex

250px-748toxapex

A new Pokemon this gen and the evolution of Mareanie, these Pokemon are predators to the adorable generation two’s Corsola. Although what makes their Pokedex entries interesting is the Moon entry:

” Those attacked by Toxapex’s poison will suffer intense pain for three days and three nights. Post-recovery, there will be some aftereffects.”

So, what are the aftereffects? It’s interesting to wonder exactly what type of long term damage a poison could cause. It also must be a very well recorded incident of it poisoning people to know it takes exactly three days and nights for anyone afflicted.

#1: Araquanid

250px-752araquanid

Everyone loves reading the disturbing side of Pokemon, and every generation introduces some dark Pokedex entries. This one is extra disturbing, because the entries contradict each other, leading it to seem like the new Pokemon Araquanid may be a sneaky monster. The Moon Pokedex entry reads:

” Despite what its appearance suggests, it cares for others. If it finds vulnerable, weak Pokémon, it protectively brings them into its water bubble. ”

That sounds lovely until you read Sun’s Pokedex entry:

” It delivers headbutts with the water bubble on its head. Small Pokemon get sucked into the bubble, where they drown. ”

Horrifying. But what’s worse is that whoever wrote the entries had to purposely put a hint in that Araquanid actually pretends to help weak Pokemon, only to actually kill them most likely for food. It’s dark, but it’s also an interesting thing to discover when comparing the versions and is a well-placed detail.

So, those are five of the most interesting Pokedex entries for Sun and Moon that we’ve seen so far. They, of course, are an opinion and grabbed our attention for different reasons and they’re definitely not the only interesting ones.

What are your favorite entrees? Let us know in the comments below!

Direction Change For Pokemon Anime.

With the new generation of Pokemon games having released, we’ll soon be seeing a new season of the anime following Ash Ketchum’s adventures in the new Alola region to accompany the games. This time around there are going to be some major changes to the show’s formula, as the directors have announced they plan to take the show in a new direction.

Last season of Pokemon turned out to be a fairly popular one compared to the last few years and was considered to be more serious than others. Ash was given an actual love interest through Serena, and everyone on screen had some great character development. This season, however, is going to take on a comedy approach, and instead of journeying through Alola Ash will be enrolled in trainer’s school. The art style is also being tweaked to be more bubbly and rounded to fit the new direction.

This will be a big change for the long-running series as it has been mostly presented as a serious, albeit child appropriate, adventure since the mid 90’s. Ash Ketchum has entertained children through all the regions shown in the main line Pokemon games, as well as the Orange Islands arc that introduced an entirely unique island region. There have also been several movies that portrayed some heavy themes, such as the famous scene from the first Pokemon movie where Ash was actually turned to stone and Pikachu cried while a horrified cast of trainers watched the ordeal in shock.

While the first movie, of course, ended happily, it proved the kids show had potential to really hit home with the story they presented. So for longtime fans the new direction may seem a bit off-putting to the long-time fans, it definitely has potential. Its also not the first time we’ve seen a bit of a change in direction as each season has been different from the last, and the series is no stranger to the comedy genre.

Thanks to the influx in popularity due to Pokemon Go and the upcoming 3Ds games we have some truly amazing products going up for purchase for the first time ever!

ThinkGeek has a license pending Snorlax beanbag set to launch its first run this December just in time for the holidays. One of the biggest parts of this update is the addition of the Camp Grounds which tapped Amiibo characters will park in. Each Amiibo character comes with their own decorated RV that you can visit and look around in. On top of that, this update will shovel in several new items from series including Zelda and Splatoon to decorate your in-game house with. You can even scan in some non-Animal Crossing amiibo like the Squid Sisters to meet their in-game animal counterparts.

if that isn’t enough you now can earn Meow Coupons by doing daily tasks like cleaning up the town.  These coupons are easily redeemable for items or bells when turned in.  There are also two new mini-games that have been added to the title. You can access both of these by using the in-game Wii U and 3DS items for each separate one. If you find yourself stuck in one of the games than you even have the option of tapping an amiibo for some extra help. Finally, there is the Amiibo camera which you can use to  take pictures of your favorite Villagers from the game!

As for non-Amiibo related features, you can now have unlimited storage after building your second floor in the game. All this content comes completely free with the update. There will also be a new line of 50 Amiibo cards sold starting December 2nd for the game. So get ready to have some fun in your dusty little town.
